Wildlife to Look Out For on the Homosassa River and Springs
West Indian Manatees
The Homosassa River is famous for its West Indian manatees, often referred to as sea cows due to their gentle nature and slow movements. These large, herbivorous mammals are a highlight of any tour, and during the cooler months (November to March), they migrate to the warm springs for sanctuary.
